PhD Candidate of Organizational Behavior
Robert H. Smith School of Business, University of Maryland
Welcome!
I am Yasha Spriha, a fifth year PhD Candidate at the R. H. Smith School of Business, University of Maryland. I will be starting as an Assistant Professor in Organizational Behavior at Arizona State University in July 2025.
Through my research, I aim to help organizations create workspaces where all employees are respected, valued, and motivated to voice their ideas and drive change.
In my research, I focus on employee voice and silence. It emphasizes the significance of voice in organizations and how practices within organizations impact it. I also study when and why employees speak up within organizations and what makes them effective in influencing change.
My research also explores socio-economic and socio-metric status. In a time when upward socio-economic mobility is more arduous than before, my research focuses on how organizations can better include employees who come from low socio-economic backgrounds. I also study how individuals strive for respect and admiration at work and how it impacts their work outcomes.
Prior to the PhD, I earned my Master of Science in Human Resources and Organizations with a focus on International Employment Relations from the London School of Economics and Political Science and a Bachelors in Arts with honors with a focus on English Literature from Lady Shri Ram College for Women, Delhi University.
