Teaching
As a teacher, I believe in creating a space where all students feel valued, motivated, and safe to speak their mind and a space where they effectively engage with the course material and collaborate with their peers. I aim to not just inspire students to acquire knowledge but to apply it thoughtfully and creatively in their academic and professional lives.
As a PhD student, I taught a foundational management course called “Managing People and Organizations” to junior and senior undergraduate students. I was the sole instructor for two semesters, Fall 2023 and Spring 2023.
My dedication to teaching is reflected in the strong evaluations I received from students:
- Fall 2023: Instructor rating: 3.60 / 4.00. Taught in-person (58 students)
- Spring 2023: Instructor rating: 3.51 / 4.00. Taught in-person (59 students)
Student Testimonials from Course and Teaching Evaluations
Yasha made the classes very interactive and encouraged everybody to speak up. It was not a lecture that was intimidating to speak up. All the content and assignments went with each other, so the course was very fluent, which helped the learning process.
The instructor provided a lot of examples and connected these topics…There were many times throughout my daily life after learning this course where I was reminded of something we learned in class because it was so well integrated within my head.
The way Professor Spriha makes each and every class interesting, engaging, and connect it to real world situations is what I enjoy most about this class. I was able to focus and retain information a lot better, and actually understood what I was learning through her effective way of teaching.
The best part about the course that enhanced my learning was the fact that Professor Spriha was very understanding and an overall nice professor which made me want to learn and excel in the course.
This professor was extremely kind and helpful. A great professor to have if you have ADS [Accessibilities and Disabilities Services] accommodations and she really cared about us.
Professor Spriha has a unique teaching style that engages students and demonstrates her knowledge and passion for the subject.
Professor Spriha has a unique teaching style that engages students and demonstrates her knowledge and passion for the subject. Professor Spriha often takes feedback from students and adjusts the coursework and structure as necessary to accommodate student recommendations. All in all, Professor Spriha is one of the best professors I have had at the Smith School because you can see how much she truly cares about her students and the class. She goes to great lengths to make sure that everyone is doing well and learning and is also very easy to talk to outside of class if you have any issues with anything at all.
